A 3,000 mAh rechargeable battery is included, so there's nothing extra to buy. It sits in the inner pocket and recharges over USB. If you want longer days out, any standard 5V USB power bank works as a spare — the scarf will take whatever you plug into it.
Low draws the least power and gives you up to 8 hours. Medium and High are warmer and run the battery down faster, so start on High to take the chill off, then drop to Low to keep it going. Charge it fully before your first use, and keep it topped up over the winter.
Charge it overnight. Leave the battery plugged in with your phone, and it's ready to drop into the pocket on your way out.

After getting my battery packs charged all up and trying again. You have to plug it up press and hold the power button and then you can click through the 3 heat levels. After figuring it all out, so far this works fantastically! We'll see how long the battery packs I picked out lasts! Great product, definitely recommend!!
These may be a little smaller than some other ones, but these have all worked and still work. I bought some others earlier, more expensive, that quit working just a few weeks, outside of the return window though. But these have kept working. And battery life with a relatively small power pack is really good. I cannot be happier. My wife gets a lot of color choices too.
For those saying you couldn't get them to charge or hold a charge, that's not how these work. It clearly states that it must be plugged into a power bank. The scarf itself does not charge and it does not heat without actively being plugged into a power source. I plugged it in and it heated up in less than 5 seconds.
I bought these for my husband because he had neck surgery. We have had them a year and they have been a real lifesaver! We went camping recently where it was about 19 degrees and the scarves kept his neck from hurting.
